We are so excited about our growing ministry for adults 60 and better — The Good Life — and we want to make sure you don't miss out on what's coming up this season! We have a wonderful lineup of events planned, with more to come, so keep reading the newsletters and bulletins each week to stay in the loop. Some activities require advance registration. Links for more information and registration are provided below.
Here's what's on the horizon:
Midday Singing and Lunch on the Ground
Monday, October 26
Bring a sack lunch and a lawn chair to picnic under the oaks starting at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, October 26. We'll sing hymns led by Chris Klaus, our amazing Director of Music Ministry, and enjoy being together on an autumn day on our beautiful campus grounds. If there's inclement weather, we will meet in the Stephen Center.
Volunteer Opportunity at Trunk or Treat
Wednesday, October 28
Trunk or Treat is one of our year's biggest events and it takes everyone helping to pull it off! This year's theme is "Giants" and the fun begins at 5:30 on Wednesday, October 28 in the FLC. Kelly and Jen need volunteers for everything from set-up to cooking to serving snacks to leading games to hosting a trunk and everything in between. Register here.
Walk to End Alzheimer's
Saturday, November 7
Join our PWUMC team for the area's first Walk to End Alzheimer's and help raise funds for important research. With new treatments emerging in the fight against Alzheimer’s and all other dementia, now is the time for hope. Now is the time for action. Help us keep the momentum going. The Walk takes place at Grand Boulevard starting at 9:30 a.m. Join our team.
Tuesday Tiles Open Mahjong Play
Tuesday, November 10
Open Mahjong play on the 2nd Tuesday of every month from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. in the Stephen Center. Adults of all ages at any playing level are welcome. Details and registration here.
The Good Life Book Club
Tuesday, November 17
Patsy Jeffcoat leads book club on the 3rd Tuesday of every month from noon - 1:00 p.m. in Classroom 2 in the Ministry Center. We've got a really special treat for November. Author Jackie Ross Flaum will join us to discuss her novel, Justice Tomorrow. Don't miss this opportunity to read an action-packed story and meet its author in person! The Good Life Friendsgiving Potluck
Monday, November 23
Let's celebrate the friendships we've grown this year with a potluck lunch before the holiday season gets crazy busy. We're hosting a potluck lunch Monday, November 23 from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. in the Stephen Center. PWUMC will provide the fried chicken and drinks.
