About

The Music Academy at Point Washington was created with the vision to bring music education to every stage of life. Launched in the fall of 2022, the Academy currently serves nearly 50 students between the ages of five and eighty years old. You can find our Academy Handbook at the link below. Honor Choir

The Honor Choir is an intermediate group that will move at a fast pace and study varied genres of repertoire in 2-3 parts. Students will learn to read choral music and navigate appropriate choral technique. Students are welcome to join with any level of choral experience and are expected to fully participate and focus during weekly rehearsals. This ensemble will perform multiple times over the course of the academic year and at the annual Spring Showcase in May. 

Students in 5th-12th grade are eligible to join; registration fee is $30 for the year. Rehearsals take place in the Music Suite at PWUMC on Mondays, 4-4:45pm.

Children's Choir

The purpose of the Children's Choir is to provide high quality choral music instruction to the Point Washington community. The choir will explore repertoire both religious and secular, including concert pieces, contemporary Christian, hymns, folk music, and more - all working towards the goals of improving aural and reading skills and fostering appreciation of various cultures, styles, and traditions of song. 

The Children's Choir is for students in 1st-8th grade and is open to all levels of experience and talent. Rehearsals take place in the Music Suite behind the steepled chapel on Wednesdays, 4-4:45pm. Registration fee is $15 for the year.

Elementary General Music

The Elementary General Music class will explore basic concepts of beat and rhythm, age-appropriate music history, musical genre and style, and more. Feierabend’s Conversational Solfege curriculum will be utilized during our class times for the purpose of teaching musical literacy. 

This class is for students in 1st-5th grade and is open to all levels of experience and talent. Classes will be held in the Music Suite behind the steepled chapel on Wednesdays, 3:15-4pm. Registration fee is $15 for the entire academic year.

"Mommy & Me" Toddler Music Class

Music is powerful for everyone, but is especially important for the youngest members of our community! Come sing, dance, and play with your little one for an enriching 30-minute weekly experience. This toddler music class will utilize Feierabend's "First Steps in Music for Infants and Toddlers" as a primary resource for creating developmentally appropriate music content for young students. "Mommy & Me" is open to adults of all genders to participate as a caregiver to the toddler student. 

Toddlers 1-3 years old are eligible for registration along with a caregiver. 10 classes will be held September-November, starting 9/10. The $100 fee is due at the time of registration.

Private Studios

We currently offer piano and guitar instruction. Tuition is charged on a monthly basis at the rate of $125 monthly, charged September-May. The first month's tuition serves as our registration fee. Students are welcome to enroll and begin lessons at any time, depending on studio availability. Piano students are eligible for lessons starting in Kindergarten; young students will be offered a free sample lesson with the instructor to determine readiness for private study. Guitar students are eligible for lessons beginning in 3rd grade.
