General Description: With this in mind, the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor will seek to live out the mission of the church by providing part-time (20 hours per week) support for our Pastor(s) and ministry programs by maintaining and repairing the church’s buildings, grounds, equipment and vehicles.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Maintenance

  • Replace burned-out lightbulbs and AC filters across the church campus; keep log of AC filter replacements reflecting quarterly changes

  • Take church vans for oil changes; keep a log of the oil change

  • Wash and inspect church vehicles on a quarterly basis and keep log of inspection reports

  • Check to confirm that all emergency exit lights are in good working order; keep monthly log

  • Provide oversight of regular maintenance for major appliances; keep a log of maintenance; and approve invoices/receipts for payment. Major appliances include, but are not limited to:

  • Family Life Center: Walk-in refrigerator and freezer, ice-maker, dishwasher, stand-alone refrigerator, coffee makers, ovens and hood, warmer

  • Stephen Center: all kitchen appliances and coffee maker

  • Cleaning of major appliances is not the responsibility of the Facilities Manager

  • Inspect all building exits on a monthly basis; making sure the exits are clear of obstructions

  • Oversee contract work with landscaping company; approve invoices/receipts for payment

  • Augment contracted work with landscapers by clearing walking paths, steps, and entrances of leaves or debris, if needed; trim bushes along fence line behind the Stephen Center; watch for and eliminate poison ivy

  • Assist with the security and locking systems of the church campus; responding to trouble calls and providing reboot of systems when needed

  • Inspect the roofs of all buildings by means of binoculars on a semi-annual basis; keep log of inspection dates and findings

  • Pressure wash exterior of all buildings, walks, fences and railings semi-annually

  • Assist, as needed, with pest control

  • Clean vents in the Family Life Center

  • Add newly engraved pavers to the Memorial Garden

  • Event Set-up/Take-down

  • Assist in preparation for special events and meetings, as needed, by setting up chairs and tables, blowing off steps or sidewalks, etc.

  • Repairs

  • Replace and/or repair broken doors, locks and hinges

  • Provide basic carpentry work to repair any broken or rotten siding, steps, eaves or to address shelving needs

  • Repair minor leaks

  • Clear all clogged toilets; repair running toilets; replace toilets as needed.

  • Repair or install ceiling fans

  • Repair or replace broken window blinds

  • Repair drywall and paint as needed

  • Supplies

  • Review paper products and all other Family Life Center supplies each week, turning in order to the Church Business Manager

Anticipated Time Commitments: The position is considered to be part-time with a weekly expectation of 20 hours per week.

Salary Range: $16.00 to $19.00 per hour (based on experience)

Supervision: This position is under the direct supervision of the senior pastor and will actively receive and participate in the supervisor’s annual verbal and written performance feedback and evaluation.

Skills, Knowledge, Abilities and Experience: 

  • Profess Christianity

  • Background check and credit check are required for employment

  • Current driver license required and Commercial Driver License desired

  • Ability to be self-motivated and work well independently without supervision, as well as work successfully as a loyal member of a team

  • Education Preferred: a high school diploma or equivalent

  • Knowledge and skill in operating small power tools and standard lawn equipment (e.g. power saw, electric drill, lawnmower, weed eater, pressure washer)

  • Ability to schedule and perform maintenance checks as outlined

  • Ability to accurately keep and organize inspection records

  • Ability to identify areas in need of repair on the church campus and the ability to recruit and/or contract outside labor when needed

  • Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written form, including maintenance and repair logs, payment request forms, timesheets, written communication with staff and committees

  • Ability to work collaboratively and build positive relations with pastors/staff, members, and visitors.
