About

We are thrilled to announce the launch of this new ministry and are excited to see the ways that God will work through it in this coming year! Please take a look at the information below to see what we offer:

Sheet Music

General Music Elementary Class

The purpose of the General Music Class is to provide high quality general music education to elementary students within the congregation of Point Washington UMC and the surrounding community. Students in this class will explore general music concepts such as dynamics, note values, and rhythm; will be introduced to standard classroom instruments such as hand drums, maracas, rhythm sticks, and more; will study composers, musical eras, and instrument families; and will become composers themselves by applying new skills through classroom activities!

Children Singing in a Choir

The Children's Choir

The purpose of the Children’s Choir at Point Washington is to provide high quality choral music instruction to the congregation at Point Washington UMC and the surrounding community. We believe that this environment will foster character growth, social/emotional skills, musical literacy, and the space for children to feel God’s love within our church community. The choir will explore repertoire both religious and secular, including concert pieces, contemporary Christian, hymns, folk music, and more - all working towards the goals of improving aural and reading skills and fostering appreciation of various cultures, styles, and traditions of song.

The Piano Studio

The purpose of the piano studio is to provide individualized, high-quality music education to students within the congregation of Point Washington UMC and the surrounding community. We believe that the study of music is a venue for personal discovery, growth, and healthy development. Student engagement in private lessons furthers the mission of the United Methodist Church “… to make the love of Christ known.” Those enrolled in private lessons can expect to follow a method chosen by the instructor to fit the individual needs of the student, supplemented by a variety of age-appropriate skills and materials relevant to the instrument. Students in the piano studio will study musical genre/style, music literacy, theory, chords, music history, and composers. These categories will be explored through scales, performance pieces, and technical exercises, and more.
